CrypDonations

Nonprofits are leaving significant donor revenue on the table because most donation platforms don't support cryptocurrency. The crypto-holding donor base is growing fast, but existing tools (PayPal, Stripe, Donorbox) don't integrate with blockchain payments, and building custom crypto infrastructure is expensive and technically complex. Organizations needed a turnkey solution that handled crypto acceptance, automatic USD conversion, and compliance without requiring any technical knowledge from their staff.

We designed and built CrypDonations as a multi-tenant SaaS platform that nonprofits can onboard to in minutes. The platform integrates CoinFlip for crypto processing (BTC, ETH, USDC, XRP) with automatic conversion to USD, and Deluxe for traditional credit card and ACH donations, all behind a single embeddable donation widget. Key engineering decisions included: a PayloadCMS-powered admin for org management, DocuSign for legal agreements, Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection, webhook-based payment confirmation, automated donor receipts, and a real-time dashboard with CSV exports and annual donor reports.

CrypDonations launched and has processed over $650,000 in donations across 10+ nonprofit organizations. The embeddable widget takes under 10 minutes to add to any website. Recurring donation support means organizations are building sustainable monthly giving programs. The platform operates at 99.9% uptime on AWS EC2 with Docker-based deployment and automated CI/CD via GitHub Actions.
